the problems of having a unique name

it turns out if you have type even 'eshita' in google, you'll find this blog. i'm not sure if i like that so much. but i guess that's what happens when you have a unique name.

it's strange that it's been really cold for the past 2-3 weeks in london. it's so windy, i've been wearing a winter coat and looking like quite a fool. in other news, my t-shirt design for my business school is being sold! i had to get a picture of the sales; this is my second time designing school merchandise :)

exactly a week till i reach singapore. i'm so excited to go home, it seems like paradise. i'm in need of a break and a mother's hug. after that i'm set to rage at an advertising agency (cross my fingers) again.

in random order: julia's birthday, traffic light party, brick lane (because i am officially a shoreditch hipster, i spend 5 days of a week there), fabric, mahesh i met you!, apres london wearing my traditional rajasthani necklace that got many compliments (i should post some pictures of it), Indians taking over piccadilly circus after our victory, my baby paul banks playing in london, sister for a week in london, my hair is now red i think picture, candles.

so many more photos to share. perhaps i ought to post more often.

i haven't posted in a while so i'll be summarising quite a bit with some important happenings/highlights:

˟ ended up getting the highest for my exam in january in my class - parents were thrilled!
˟ threw a successful party for 130 people with a budget and made a large profit, a big donation to red cross for japan too - so pleased!
˟ met the members of my favourite band Interpol again, and the man of my dreams Paul Banks said he recognised me. hopefully by the fourth time, i should have him where i want him... ;)
˟ lost the elections for a position i had my eye on for a year - was pretty upset about this.
˟ successfully got an internship with an advertising agency (which by the way, is the coolest company ever), definitely a good thing for a first year
˟ India won the world cup after 28 dark years! a big victory for all Indians, jai hind! :')
˟ met a top guy from a huge global advertising agency and made an impression. so hopefully an internship over summer should work out? i have my fingers crossed!

a lot's been happening, really. i had 2 weeks in march wherein i think i was on some kind of rollercoaster - so many events transpiring, so much happening all at once, so many ups and downs, and so much i've learnt about myself and other people. but the end result has been a happy one. i'm currently interning at an advertising agency and it's been the most amazing experience i've had in this city so far. i've always had an idea of the advertising industry in my head, but to be part of all the fun and work has been enchanting. so enchanting that sometimes i 'joke' about wanting to leave university... funny that some time ago i was doubting myself and my ambitions because some people had questioned me as to why i had planned everything for myself so early. but today i'm sure because i can see myself working towards my goals in life and it makes me self-content - a feeling i'm always chasing.

summer in london is here! i think spring missed its memo. leopard print sunglasses, cornettos, bright colours, summer frocks and afternoon drinking is here and no, i don't mean tea. all i need is my extremely long hair back :'( and maybe someone who would like to accompany me on fashion photo shoots around londontown in this beautiful weather.

also, i need to make a new post about recent happenings... it's been so long and i have many photos to share. it's valentine's day soon and i just want to share with everyone that i'm in love! ♥

a week of freedom

new year's eve was good. i and i spent it at the vip area at attica, singapore which is always promises a good time and i also had my new year's kiss. winter break in totality was such a nice getaway from frigid london. glad i got to go home and meet some special people. now i'm back in london and done with my management exam. i got around to get my hair dyed finally (thanks j!) and although i was going for something lighter, i now have almost black hair. i actually really like it now; it looks much classier and well-put. 

friday night m invited me to drinks and dinner at notting hill with her classmates and we had a wonderful time; absolutely loved the bar we went to - so very classy. i'm also in love with my new canon lens so i had to share some pictures i took at the bar.

i'm a free bird for coming week so i'll be working on internship applications, photography and hopefully some fashion blogging (finally!). my flatmate s asked me if i'd like to do a fashion photo shoot for her fashion designer friend sometime soon and i'm absolutely looking forward to that. it'll be the first photo shoot i'll be doing in london, and he wants to go in a dark direction, which will also be my first! really very excited for this opportunity.

here's to a new year

it's been such an eventful year with so many big changes in my life, and there's too much to say.

highlights:

- 'marrying' ben hemenway on the 14th of February 2010

- a lovely visit from my old friend b, someone whose support i will always miss, and the fun times i had when she was here with i, another amazing friend whom i love so much

- a sketchy 7 day trip to california with your two best friends makes memories that will last you a lifetime; i love you n & b

- designing and sewing a dress

- making the first life-changing decision of my life: to transfer from UVA to Cass Business School in London

- realising fairy tales are aptly named for a particular reason... they do not exist. excuse my cheesiness, but there's an extraordinary but personal and long story to explain this one

- falling in love with London, meeting the most amazing people and making a diverse group of friends

- going for an interpol concert and meeting the entire band (and paul banks again) after the show

- m visiting me in singapore and talking for 6 hours straight, i have missed you girl

- preparing for the new year with a canon ef 50mm f/1.8 lens that i am in love with

- making a promise to myself to do more art and enterprise in the new year, and focusing on things that make me happy

this is a little (and public) place where i intend to:

this little place serves as a reminder that i need to graphic design at some point and do more 'artsy stuff' as my friend notes. there won't be any comprises with regards to posting numerous, large photos.
